| DEPARTMENT MATERIAL RESPONSIBILITY |
- The purpose of this chapter is to fix the division of work as to the operation, testing, cleaning, repairs and upkeep of certain items of ship's equipment wherein such division of work, with its inherent possibility of friction, exists. Its principal utility will be found in its answer to the question: "Who shall be called to make the repairs?"
- The Engineer Department shall be responsible for all electrical equipment throughout the ship except radio and sound equipment. This includes responsibility for routine inspections and the initiation and performance of all repair work.
- The following table shall be construed as a guide to determine the responsibility for the performance of the specified classes of work. It is not to be construed as relieving officers of the necessity of inspecting the equipment in their custody, the determination of the necessity for repairs, and effecting minor upkeep within the capacity of their own forces.
