Acceptable Use, and Helpful Tips

Important: Please read this before using the message boards.

The message boards on this web site were created to make it easier for site visitors to meet and talk with others with similar interests, in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Following a few simple guidelines will help make the message boards useful and safe for everyone.

Acceptable Use

With few exceptions, any topic related to Enterprise CV-6 or the Pacific War is open to discussion, and every point of view is welcome. Posts will not be removed or edited, except in the following cases:

Solicitations: Any solicitation - commercial, charitable or otherwise - must be approved by the Webmaster before posting. Please contact Joel Shepherd, [email protected], for more information. Unapproved solicitations will be removed immediately, without notice to the poster.
CVN-65 Personnel Inquiries: This is not an appropriate place to inquire about personnel on the currently commissioned carrier Enterprise CVN-65. Please visit the CVN-65 web site for contact information. Such posts will be removed, and the author notified.
Obscenities and Racist Remarks: Acceptable only in historical context: i.e. direct quotations from historical figures.
Personal Attacks: Debate is encouraged, but posts containing personal attacks will be edited or removed.

Responding to Posts

Please feel free to respond to any post! Many visitors to this site are quite knowledgeable with regards to Enterprise and naval history. If you can answer another visitor's question, please do, so that others can benefit from your expertise or personal experience.
When possible, respond to posts via the message boards, instead of sending e-mail directly to the poster. Other visitors may be interested in your response. By responding on the message boards, you can ensure the person you're replying to sees your response, as well as other interested readers.
At times, you may want to exchange contact information - such as your mailing address - with other visitors. CV6.ORG recommends that sensitive information like this be exchanged via e-mail, to help protect your privacy.

Your Privacy

When you post a message, you have the option to include your e-mail address. The benefit of including your address is that it makes it easier for others to write directly to you. People are sometimes hesitant to include their e-mail address, because they're afraid that it'll be used to send them junk mail - "spam" - or that it'll be given away to other organizations.
