Air Department Commander CDR John G. Crommelin served in Enterprise from June 1942 to September 1943. Edward Stafford, author of "The Big E", wrote of CDR Crommelin: "of all the men who sailed in her, his was the personality which most indelibly stamped itself on Enterprise."
