Air Group 10 planes, many critically low on fuel, in a landing circle over Enterprise CV-6, at the Battle of Santa Cruz, 26 October 1942. With the loss of Hornet CV-8 during this engagement, the Big E became the only friendly operating flight deck in the Pacific, until the return of Saratoga CV-3 in December.
