Japanese carrier Akagi and a destroyer evade attack of Army B-17 bombers early in the Battle of Midway, 4 June 1942. Though the Army initially claimed a number of hits on the enemy carriers, in fact no hits were scored. In general, high level bombing against ships underway yielded very poor results throughout the war.
