Smoke and flame boil from Hornet CV-8's island after she is crashed by a Japanese 'Val' dive bomber piloted by Sato Shigeyuki. While the plane's bomb was a dude, the impact and burning fuel effectively destroyed the ship's signal bridge, while the plane itself penetrated the flight deck and came to rest in a squadron ready room.
