Mitsubishi A6M Fighter ('Zero') | |
| |
Source: Donald Gordon A Mitsubishi A6M Type 0 fighter plane: codenamed 'Zero' and 'Zeke' (A6M5 model) by the Allies. Though the Zero was one of the greatest technological surprises and most feared planes at the beginning of the war, by June 1942 US Navy pilots had begun to take its measure. Fast and highly maneuverable at lower speeds, the Zero was lightly armored and could be successfully countered by such tactics as the diving attack and the Thach Weave. |
