Between enemy attacks, Enterprise CV-6 attempts to recover returning strike planes from Hornet CV-8's Air Group as well as her own, 26 October 1942. This photo was taken around noon from the battleship South Dakota BB-57. Minutes later landing operations ceased as the task force fought off its third Japanese attack of the day.
