The battleship Oklahoma BB-37 is capsized in Pearl Harbor, 7 December 1941, with Maryland BB-46 behind her. Oklahoma's casualties numbered 415, and though eventually righted and refloated, she never returned to service. Maryland was largely shielded by Oklahoma during the attack, and was the first of the ships in Pearl's "Battleship Row" to return to action, in February 1942.
