Secretary of the Navy James E. Forrestal inspects Enterprise CV-6 as she lies in dry dock at Puget Sound Navy Yard, 2 July 1945. Forrestal later saluted the Big E as "...the one ship that most nearly symbolizes the history of the Navy in this war."
