Wrecked enemy planes, victims of Enterprise and Task Force 58 attacks,  litter a Japanese airfield near Hollandia, New Guinea, 21 April 1944. Planes making morning strikes had to duck below an 800 foot ceiling, make their bombing or strafing run, and climb back into thick clouds to escape heavy but inaccurate anti-aircraft fire. By the time this photo was taken, about 1355, the clouds had cleared.
