Barrels of oil spill from a Japanese tanker sunk 15 miles northwest of Saipan by LT(jg) Shannon McCrary of VT-10, 12 June 1944. Note several crewmen escaping the sinking vessel, and what appears to be a flotation ring floating among the oil barrels. The crewmen were later picked up by a US destroyer and taken prisoner.
