LT Russell F. Kippen, in late 1943 or early 1944, when he was a Torpedo Ten pilot. Kippen was later killed in action during a night-time raid on the Formosan harbor of Kiirun, 22 January 1945. Kippen was Commanding Officer of Night Air Group 90's Torpedo Squadron at the time.
