A Scouting Six Dauntless returns from a search as Task Force 16 closes on Japan, 17 April 1942. Enterprise CV-6 was the "duty carrier" in Task Force 16, escorting Hornet CV-8, which launched the Doolittle Raid on 18 April 1942, the day after this photo was taken.
