Source: Arnold W. Olson Insignia of Bombing Squadron Six. Jack Leaming, a VS-6 radioman, indicates the insignia was based on a head dress worn by Aztec priests during rites of human sacrifice. The wide open eyes portray the vigilance required of the scouting mission. The bomb represented the squadron's secondary mission: dive bombing. |
