An Enterprise crewman stands in front of the cofferdam constructed to stop flooding caused by bomb damage during the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, 24 August 1942. The cofferdam, constructed of timber, wire mesh, pillows and mattresses, took 18 hours to construct.
