Entry Hole - Second Bomb
Entry hole left by the second bomb to hit Enterprise during the Battle of the Eastern Solomons.

Flight deck entry hole (frame 179) left by the second bomb to hit Enterprise during the Battle of the Eastern Solomons, 24 August 1942. This bomb detonated about 8 feet below the flight deck, deflecting the deck upwards 18 inches, and severely damaging gun platforms Nos. 5 and 7.
