Enterprise CV-6 (center, background), South Dakota BB-57 and other US fleet ships in Noumea Harbor, New Caledonia, 5 November 1942. At this time, Enterprise was undergoing repair for damage received on 26 October, during the the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands. She sortied on 11 November to engage in the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal, 13-15 November 1942.
