CDR Roscoe L. Newman was Air Group 10's commanding officer from 16 January to 12 February, 1944, when he became Enterprise's Assistant Air Officer. In this station, Newman replaced CDR William 'Slim' Townsend, who was lost in a training accident in January 1944.
